Your journey is independently yours and every up or down is your testimony.”  We had the opportunity to spotlight actress, author, entrepreneur & executive producer Tami Roman for our Inspirational Spotlight segment this month. Tami Roman has been hustling and making what we call “money moves” since she first graced our screens during Real World back in 1993. Tami Roman later appeared on the franchise Basketball Wives Miami and ever since then her career has been on the rise.

Most recently, you can catch Tami doing stand up shows, Basketball Wives, films and she even has her own series “Bonnet Chronicles” that you can catch on Tidal. To witness Tami’s idea for “Bonnet Chronicles” take off, which started off as a simple Instagram response to negativity, is nothing short of amazing. Everyone on social media knows Tami will give you a good laugh all while telling you what you are thinking but too scared to say. Tami Roman’s brand has been booming and we had the chance to chat with Tami about how “Bonnet Chronicles” started, her inspiration, her acting career and so much more. Check out the interview below.

Who were your inspirations growing up ?

My inspiration has and will always be my mother. I never looked outside of my home for inspiration. Seeing my mother work three jobs to ensure that I had the best life she could offer was my motivation. I knew early that she was the type of woman I wanted to be.

Tell us about Bonnett Chronicles and where did the Idea come from to create such such an amazing alter ego?

Bonnet Chronicles came about from my reading a blog and some of the ladies from my show BBW were saying some negative things about me, so I decided to answer with a video on IG. The video went viral so I assumed people liked what I had to say, so I kept doing them. Incorporating my no holds barred, shoot straight from the hip, no filter opinion on my experiences became a hit. Now 2 million followers later, I’ve become the soulfully ratchet voice of the people. Saying the things they can’t or won’t say.

I see you did some acting, did you always want to be an actor?

I’ve been acting for over 20 years! Trained by the amazing Chip Fields and later Tasha Smith. Never wanted to be an actor, but fell into it by way of doing a show called The Real World. However once I started, I knew this was what I was meant to do. Bring life to characters and entertain people.

Who was your favorite actor to work with?

I’ve worked with so many amazingly talented people like Halle Berry, Octavia Spencer, Kevin Hart, Elise Neal, Terrence Howard, Steve Harvey, Regina Hall, Romany Malco, Courtney Cox.,, they’ve all left an impact in some way that it’s really hard to name one.

As a successful business woman as yourself what advice can you give aspiring entrepreneurs out there ?

Do something that you are passionate about and not just seeking a quick lick. Being an entrepreneur is filled with long days & even longer nights without pay or help in the beginning. You have to want to win in such a way that when it’s not lucrative, you still love it and are passionate about your dream.

Are you working on anything new right now that you can share with us ?

I have a new show with Octavia Spencer, two new shows on Tidal, two movies set to release and a successful Ecommerce Store for Bonnet Chronicles merchandise www.officialbonnetchronicles.net so I’m definitely out here hustling.

People would like for you to remain stagnant by belittling your growth and attempting to make you feel less than for the things you’ve experienced or are experiencing. However, if you honor the truth of every moment in your life any weapon they form will not prosper.
